Campus Safety

Western International University (WIU) is strongly committed to crime prevention and to the safety of the University community. The University considers the personal physical safety of its students and employees as a primary condition for a successful learning environment. It is our hope that a well-informed University community will be a safe one.

Annual Security Report

The WIU Annual Security Report is comprised of two sections: Campus Crime Statistics and Campus Safety Policies.

Campus Crime Statistics

The Western International University Campus Crime Statistics cover crimes reported to the University that occurred on campus, in certain off-campus buildings or property owned or controlled by the University, and on public property within or immediately adjacent to and accessible from the campus, over the previous three years.

Campus Safety Policies

The Western International University Campus Safety Policies cover issues concerning crime prevention, the reporting of crimes, sexual assault, alcohol and drug use, and other related matters.

Statement of Policy Addressing Sex Offender Registration

The Federal Campus Sex Crimes Prevention Act requires colleges and universities to issue a statement advising the campus community where state law enforcement agency information concerning registered sex offenders may be obtained. The Act also mandates that sex offenders who are already required to register in a state to provide notice of each institution of higher education in that state at which the offender is employed or is a student. To learn the identity of registered sex offenders on or near a campus, or anywhere in the United States, visit the Sex Offender databases at http://www.sexoffender.com and http://nsopr.gov. You can search by city, county, or zip code. This information is collected by other agencies and this institution cannot guarantee this information is correct or complete. Drug and Alcohol Prevention

In order to assist any student who may have a drug or alcohol problem, resources have been provided listing counseling, treatment, and/or rehabilitation programs available both locally and nationally.
